window frame fix

Can this be fixed by drilling out the spot welds on the window frame. The frame needs to go forward, but I dont think the door shell will let it.

Re: window frame fix

These ol' girls were built to last 10 years, not 70 or more so fit and finish were not a priority at all. They're purpose was to put food on the table, nothing more.

Having said that, I'd suggest leaving it alone as nobody will ever notice it and besides, you likely have more obvious/needy areas to address.

Sorry I can't answer your question directly.

Re: window frame fix

How does the gap look on the rest of that door? If the frame was installed incorrectly you would expect the gap to show inconsistently, as the opposite top part of the frame should be dragging the door opening if this is indeed pushed backward. If the window frame to opening gap is consistent, I would be more inclined to think the door skin was put on wrong or formed incorrectly.

Re: window frame fix

The rest of the gaps look good. You can see how the gap is really wide where the window frame meets the door. Think I am going to try and find another door.

Re: window frame fix

Looking at that view it does appear to be the window frame.. And the inconsistent gap makes it an eye magnet.. Can't be that hard to move it??

Re: window frame fix

That's normal on these trucks. If you want it perfect weld a 1/8" steel rod on edge to fill it in then grind gap to your wishes
