inline six PAIR emission system really needed?

i just bought a 1980 c10 with a 250 vin d, inline six and it has this PAIR system on top of the valve cover. im new to this kind of motor, period and i noticed other 250 inline 6s that dont have this emission control system.

anyone know or think its a bad idea to take this system off or if i can run the motor without the system. if anyone can help or toss me some information on this system or if its possible, that would be awesome.

new to the forums

thanks

steveo

ill throw up some pics later of engine and overall pic of truck

you need three things with a in-line.. gas spark and compression.. that is all i leave on one.. but i am old and don't care about polar bears on smog test..

The pulse air system does not rob any power from the motor what so ever. The only thing I'd do over again on mine is ever so slightly is a larger idle jet. The 80 modlel runs very lean. Other than that the 2v carb runs out fine.
