Help with door latch

Installed new door hardware from LMC. The drivers side door, about every 5th or 6th cycle will slam like it’s hitting a brick wall and swing back open ( doesn’t latch). If reach down and manually spin the star a few times it will shut for another hand full of times. Passenger door is fine , any ideas?

Thank you

Re: Help with door latch

Sounds like a warranty issue. I would take it up with LMC and stress the safety standpoint.

If it breaks I didn't want it in the first place

Re: Help with door latch

Had the same phenomenon a couple of years ago. In my case the spring of the in cab doorhandle was broken, so the handle did sometimes not return and caused the same symptomes you described. It was easy to fix once I got the new part.

Where is that spring located. I don’t have good access so I have to do everything inside the door blind with my arm at a wired angle . But that makes sense so I would like to address that to either fix it or rule it out.

Thank you

Re: Help with door latch

You have to remove the door panel to gain access to unscrew the three screws that are holding the door handle remote control in place and unhook it from the attached rod.
You'll need the whole part (about 18 bucks). The mentioned spring is located right in the middle of the part. Here is a picture:
