Re: Project "Leon "

The pipe does appear to be fairly close to the trailing arm but keep in mind they are very long so they don't move a whole lot.
I would measure the distance from the frame to the ground and then add some weight to the back of the truck and remeasure and see how many inches it can move before it hits the exhaust pipe.

That's what I was thinking.... I did however jump up and down like a fool on the back of the frame to see how much it moved. wasn't much. If it comes down to it, I'll give it the once over with a hammer... I may take the springs out and see how close it gets.

I did however fix the a-arms. Didn't take but 30 minutes. Thank you for the heads-up!

Re: Project "Leon "

Hey man read the entire built and have to thank you for the motivation to tackle ls swap in my 70. At the moment I'm painting the engine and sending off ecm and wiring harness. Hopefully it will be half as nice as yours. We'll need to meet up once they both are running I'm local here of 635 and Northwest hwy. Any updates?

Haha, Thanks man! I'm glad I could help you along.

I'm super cheep so I decided to do my harness my self. Wasnt that bad, just takes a LOT of time. I like to solder and heat shrink. If you want to try to tackle it, I say you should shoot for it. If you need a heat gun, I have two. I found one brand new in the box on the way home from work one day. If it will encourage you more, I'll give it to you. I had brandon at LT1 swap do my programming. In and back in the same week!

My dad lives just down the street from you. I grew up in that area!

I don't have any updates because I have been at Disney for a conference all weekend and I'm on the plane home now.

I have to be the one of the few rednecks that decided that fishing at a Disney Resort seemed more fun that hitting the parks... Thank you wal-mart for the fishing section.

The fish? I threw it back after TSA wouldn't let me through the gate
The rod and reel? I bought a super cheap one with the idea of ditching it. I kept the reel and I left the rod. Hopefully someone else can get use out of it!

Very nice fish! I would have been right by your side fishing if I had to go to a conference there. I have done the same thing many times. Now I just bring a decent reel with me and leave the rod in hotel when I come home.

Thanks man. Those florida string bass were fatties! The resort I was at had so many of them.

I'm thinking I just going to start traveling with a reel. Fish until you get kicked out, Right?

Re: Project "Leon "

My travels to Disney took some time away, and and nice weekend of fishing this past weekend didn't help either, but I did get my exhaust finished up.

I, like a crazy person, ground down all of the welds on the exhaust to make a "seamless" look. What a kick in the head... Then I took it over to the powder coaters place to have him blast the entire kaboodle. Only cost me $21 dollars, (all the cash I had on hand) After blasting, he let me borrow a corner of his shop where I painted the entire rig in black grill paint. Read a couple of reviews of people painting their exhaust with it and they seemed to be happy. Came home last night and put it all together. I used a rubber mallet on the V-band clamps like Calvin had suggested in an earlier post. They seem to have seated up nicely. Time will tell. I mentioned earlier that the trailing arm might hit. Not sure.

Man it's looking good.Alot further along than me,my PBFAB trailing arms should be in by saturday so hopefully i can set my ride height and tack my axle saddles in place when i determine pinion angle.Keep up the pace and i may pick your brain on the LS swap, not sure yet but a 5.3 or .7 may be in my future.

Sweet!!!! You need to get a build thread going.

Come on over to the house and ask all the questions you can come up with. I'll give you a hand if you need. I owe you one anyways.

Thanks for the heat gun offer I know its not super difficult from what I have read. But I did a lot of research and almost started to do it myself but know I would be rushing with getting the truck ready for the swap and suspension. So I went ahead and sent it to LT1 swap for them to rework the harness and program the comp. I figured it would allow me to complete other major things for the swap fuel etc. Planning on having everything done once the harness comes back and before the heat comes. Cant wait to take it to local meet ups also. Might have to get in contact with you for some small powered coating if your available of course.

I have a LONG way to go before I'm going to be able to go to meetups.

Bring me what you need to do. We can knock it out!

Re: Project "Leon "

More hack and tack this weekend. I'm learning the hard way, the slower you go the better it looks. It's looking alright, just takes forever. I have had a couple of conversations here recently with my painter. They are slow in the shop at the moment, so I took him my fenders so he can start on the dent repair and whatnot. Here are some pictures form this weekend.

The wheels are REV classics 100 series 20x10 and 18x8. From what I read these wheels are licensed by American Racing, or were at some point in time. I think the lip is a little different, but not sure. I bought them from a company I found off of ebay. Correct Performance out of california. $1390 shipped! They are suppose to be sending me some AR center caps today. The tires are a cheep-o no name brand, but the price was great and we all know how long the first set of tires last

Howdy neighbor! Just finished reading thru your build...looking sweet. You work fast and your truck looks super clean! Saving for an LS in the Camaro, can't wait to get that pumped when I get it running Thanks for the motivation!

Hope you're staying dry, I know you're getting hammered with rain. We have two Blackhawks up in your area today!

The rain has been pretty crazy! All the lakes are full/almost here hopefully some of the runoff will make it down to Travis. Yall need it!

Thanks for the comps. I have lost a bit of steam here lately. I took the cab to the body shop the other day. Hopefully once it's done, I'll get fired back up.
