Been wanting to lap the neighborhood in it myself. So darn busy catching up on Summer chores now that I have 2 arms again.

My biggest concern is keeping it a runner as we work on it. I want it drivable so junior can have fun with it. Blowing it apart, welding, sanding and painting sounds fun to me. My boy? Not so much.

Well nothing is happening in my shop due to some issues with my elderly parents. But did want to share a pic that someone took of my kid and his buddies when he drove it to school the other day. So glad he is getting a kick out of this car.

Even though the car isnt a Camaro or a mustang, your kid will have a hell of a lot of memories with it and will look back with a huge smile on his face!

I ahd a friend who had a Honda civic wagon when we were in school, that thing took a lot of punishment but held up oddly enough. lots of memories for me....

Today I think that's a neat little wagon. But when I was in HS in the 70s the only kids that would have posed with that thing would have been total dorks. No way any of us "cool" kids would have been caught like that. We would have all hunkered way down so as not to be seen if that was a car we had to use to go out in.

I'm happy he is satisfied, its certainly not his 1st choice (69 Camaro)
however he keeps talking about working on it with me. His way of saying,
I'll watch you work on it.

I too recall some odd cars that were just for thrashing. We off use to off road a Subaru 360. So small 2 of us could lift it up high enough to clear stumps and such while the driver floored it!

Not at the moment. Now the Amazon sits in the shop on jack stands waiting for me to heal the driveshaft whobble. I think it may actually be the rear trans mount. Have a new one, just need time, energy and a healthier back to get it moving again.

I vividly recall getting rides to school in my friends parents Land Rover
which had really loud exhaust (not in a good way) heck I didn't care but they all hid when getting dropped off. I loved it!
Caddy?-I wish.

I did drag home (not too far from the truth) a parts car to help finance the Amazon. And if my evil plan works as planned maybe use the engine from it for the Volvo.

I hope so. I'd love to use it. Weird transmission, no torque converter.
I'd like to add a T-5. Probably not a cheap engine to freshen up but can't be as
the Volvo B20. Which I like. Just can't see spending big bucks for 150 HP engine.

Was in the thirties this morning as I tore into the Cutlass. (poor thing)

Well not too interesting (just yet) Did spend time in the shop with my boy, we cut rear coils, and reinstalled the driveshaft that was just repaired and balanced. Also working a bit on the interior. Waxed the door trim pieces and trying to figure out how to remove the glue on the dash under what was the dash pad.

Funny you should say that. The reason for the driveshaft repair was some clunk noises that developed right after talking Mrs. Nonhog into keeping insurance on the old Volvo. We'll wouldn't you know. Junior comes home from school and yells "Dad listen to this!" clunk, thump, bang. I thought it was from the driveshaft. Well it was in poor shape. But........... it still is making the same, although slightly less, noises. So we pull it in the shop
and start checking brakes. I now think it might be a broken pin on one of the rear shoes. RR if I am guessing right? These have Dana rear axle with the tapered shaft. Have to use a puller. Well as my luck would have it the
homemade puller(post 46) I have broke. So it sits ..............waiting until tonight to see if I can fix my puller.

Did buy a new dash cap!

No time for working but I think I will re drill the tool to accept the threaded part of my gear puller. That should work?

Soon! It wasn't much. Talking with other Amazon owners and they suggested 1.5-2 coils. We went about 1.5 and it didn't change a lot. Super easy to remove/install.

Per the glue, have you tried Acetone? Maybe MPK? Not that i know where to get it tho.. and it may desolve paint so caution....

Now that we changed course the glue is a non issue. It'll all get hidden under the new dash cap.

Fixed the puller! Had friction material fall off both shoes when I got the drum off. I hope that is the end of finding worn items on a 49 year old car.

Hope I can find a shoe set today for install this weekend.

Junior is on his way, with the driver seat, to the shop that did swamp rat's seat. Hope they can make them usable again. Hate to buy new covers.
Close to 700 just for covers, then the rear seat will look old. (which it is)
Remember I'm trying to keep this one a driver!
Have brake shoes ordered, getting a few detail items as well.
Not sure how to handle the rubber floor matt. I can buy a carpet kit for $400 something but I didn't think it looked that nice.(for 400)
The rubber matt is cracking and falling apart.

Going to make a heat shield for the carb, as it has some hot soak issues.

Working on plan B. Not sure what that is just yet.

I don't know if i posted all the details but they installed a cover and new foam that i had already bought, no repair work.. yea custom stuff cost a little money..
