1990 Cluster Repair

I have a 1990 K1500 Chevy. My speedometer has quit working. Does anyone know of a place to get these repaired? Someone that they have used and can recommend. At one point you could knock on the front and it would start working. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: 1990 Cluster Repair

imo your best best is to buy a new cluster at a junkyard. take the speedo part out of it and see if that works. if not just switch clusters. ebay has clusters too for pretty cheap.

Re: 1990 Cluster Repair

Well, I got it out, that sure was a lot of screws. I talked to A.I.R this morning so I should have it shipped by Friday.

Re: 1990 Cluster Repair

I finally got to take the cluster in today. I should have it back next Friday, but parts are getting scarce for these clusters. I will give a full report next Friday.

Re: 1990 Cluster Repair

I got the repaired cluster in. The speedometer works great but the oil pressure gauge is bouncing a little like it has a loss conection or something. I have not driven this truck much in the last 10 years(My dad's) so I am not sure if it was doing it before. I am going to replace the sending unit just for to eliminate that. I am going to call AIR and see what they say as soon as I have time.

I was impressed with AIR. The man that owns it seems to know his stuff. He showed me around and explained everything that he did to the cluster. I would recommend them to other people needing a cluster repaired.
