2 piece driveshaft interchange?

I have a 60 SWB pickup with a V8, TH350 trans and a 1 piece driveshaft. I want to go back to a 2 piece driveshaft because the 1 piece rubs on the X-member of the frame now that I've lowered it. Anyone know what later model trucks have a 2 piece driveshaft that can be adapted?

OK... Does anyone know what 78-87 trucks had 2-piece driveshafts?

I don't think short beds had 2 piece drivelines, you might have to cut your xmember for clearance.

Re: 2 piece driveshaft interchange?

Mine originally had one, but I didn't want to mess with a carrier bearing 20yrs ago, back when I was young and smart, so I put in a 1 piece I had laying around. Carrier Bearing mounted in the middle of the x-member. =P

I would look in the yellow pages for a driveline shop. Most axle shops will be able to give a reference also. Take the measurements you need, center of output yoke on the tranny to the center of where you carrier bearing goes and then to the center line of your yoke on the differential. I have a 1960 but mine is a long bed and although I'm not going to lower my ride I'm staying with the 2 peice. Another benifit for 2 peice, you don't have to worry as much about angle of your tranny and differential since they have slip splines.
