Looking very good...Seems like we're having a discussion here...don't know why no one else is posting on here? You're doing great work and the pictures help me and others with ideas and show us things to look out for.

Re: Bagged project progress

what do you use to smooth the welds on the 90 degree angle on the firewall where you added the strip?

Re: Bagged project progress

yea, it took forever espically with a tig.

im not sure if it's the right thing to do or not, but this thing isent gettin a show quality paint job for a few years (no funds). So my plans are to run a bead of seam sealer over the 90 deg weld and hope for the best, gonna let time take it tool and see if that works. I have little right angle grinder with 2" discs that ive been using for all the other tight areas and it works great, just takes forever! (no desire to use it on that whole area)

Im having a serious lack of motivation right now though. scraping the undercoating definaly didnt make me more excited lol. hopefully I start spreding some mud around tomorow, or painting the underside because I am itchin to get the frame back home and make it look like a truck again!

More updates soon! (i hope )

Re: Bagged project progress

Well, there is good news... the rest of the truck is home! (most of it) cab has a bunch of body work done- and a few coats of primer on. ill get some pics and post up later...

and the not so good news. I might have to sell it. I don't want to at all, but I may have to move sooner than I thought. It's possible I can finish the truck before I move out but a chunk of money in my pocket would be better than a truck that I have no place for.

I really have no idea what to ask for it. I paid $4500 for it when I got it, and I do not even want to know how much I put into it lol. you can see all the work put into it, and the parts in this thread.

So PM me any offers/words of advise/don't sell it comments/etc , don't clog this thread up. I know i shouldn't sell, but sometime life just does not work the way you want it too.

but don't worry I don't want to sell it! and until it goes (if it goes) im gonna keep workin on it!

oh yea... pics tonight- because it looks sweet back in the garage layin frame

Re: Bagged project progress

the truck is really looking amazing, sorry if you have to sell, that really is too bad, but on the up note, you did learn quite a bit on it.

Re: Bagged project progress

You're tellin me! I didn't know squat about baggin a truck when i got this.... now i got one in lots of pieces but hey its getting somewhere!

got some more work done though.

After bringing the chassis/bed home I realized that there is no way anything would work with the stock floor

so... up it goes!

also a few of the cab in one color!

Re: Bagged project progress

Location was local, sry. But I do remember finding it online here

http://www.garysupholstery.com/upholstery-foam.html

i was gonna get the P240MR Seating Foam but I know someone who restores boats and he got me some for a little cheaper and without the shipping.

its trickey to cut without the right saw, and can make a mess of little foam bits everywhere!

Re: Bagged project progress

could you post some pictures of the watts link with air bags aired down then fully raised. I would love to see that cycled, cant figure out how that works with the center pivoting arm.

Re: Bagged project progress

nice watts link design, but one thought, i would add some support to the side of that stud on the cover, there is alot of sideways force on it, and i would not want to see it sheer of and cause grief after all that work. It would be best to go to the rearend housing if you could. Or a really good bracket attached to the points around the cover.,

Re: Bagged project progress

Ill try and remember to get some pics.

Im not too worried about the center bolt. I know there is a lot of force on it, the cover is made of 1/4 plate welded in and out, and then I ran 3 passes around the base of the 1" bolt. I may add one more brace over the top of the bolt but im not sure yet, its probably just gonna stay as it is.
