control arms?

whats the deal with these tubular upper controll arms. i have already bagged the truck, but i want to go lower. i am getting ready to do disc brakes, so have not gone to the drop spindles yet. i will be using 89-90 3/4 ton componets for my disk conversion. so i could use stock spindles or drop spindles. basicaly i dont know what i am doing and could use some help. thanks, pkj

Re: control arms?

Do they make drop spindles for an 89 3/4 ton? I don't know about 88+ parts on our trucks, so I can't help there.

The main reason I am looking to use tubular upper arms is the cost of rebuilding my stock arms is only about $150 less than buying the complete tubular upper arms that come with all new bushings and ball joints. It also saves me one less thing to buy when I go to a dropmember.

I don't think you get any lower with the arm, but it does help the ball joint angles for lowered stances.

Re: control arms?

I am going to order from Nathan (Porterbuilt). He gives a 10% discount to members and I like to support people who support the board (and people who are cool, he happens to be both). $296 for the upper arms.

I'm not quite sure if they make drop spindles for 89-90 3/4 ton application. Do you already have this disc setup, and that's the reason you are trying to make it work? Seems like you are going to make a lot of extra work for yourself.

Yep, the control arms I sell are the Strong Arms by Air Ride Tech... They will not get your truck any lower, but as mentioned, have some additional caster built in to aid when lowering these trucks.

Re: control arms?

If you use 88- 1 1/4 spindles you can just use 88- 3/4 rotors. No need for 3/4 spindles...
