I also wanted a big window, but even in the rust-free west, the BBW cabs are becoming rare and expensive - they are very desirable.

I would hesitate cutting up a perfectly good cab like mine (very little rust in the usual areas) but the small window cab actually give you a bit more privacy, and shade from the 100°+ heat here in So Cal.

I if I found a BBW cab for a decent price, however, I'd buy it just to have it on hand! Rule #147 is it?

I will never do it again. Lol. The pictures are off of my phone. There are still areas to trim and the under cab braces need to be removed and replaced. Time has been really tight these days. My frame is 80% done and I haven't gotten wheels.

Wow, haven't come back to this thread since about Nov. last year.

When I bought my big window '55 in 2011 I got flack from at least one member that told me I paid too much. And it was a complete, running big window shortbed already converted to five lug with a 283, TH350 tranny and Chevelle rearend!

Times have changed. I know that "Askin ain't Gettin" but I'm regularly seeing '55-'59's here in SoCal that I don't THINK are equal to mine and guys are asking $10-15k!

I have been still chipping away at my conversion. My cab is at the body shop getting welded and doors fit and aligned. I will never do this again.lol. Should be back in my hands by next week.

Cuz it's a pain in the butt. I picked up a 08 6.2 from a denali & then my boss asked me why I didn't get a whole car( I work at dealership) so he says pick out car I want for drivetrain and he will buy it(05-06 salvage pontiac GTO) so by the time I finish this project my 7yr old will be in college. Lol.

Frame is is good. I am having the frame horn/radiator mount refabbed to keep it clean. Th 84 ls swap has taken priority now so I can get my garage back. I have the swaybar and trans mount as well from PB. I will be running brake lines and wiring this winter.

Nicely done. I've got the same parts, but to keep my sanity (and to keep my wife off my back), a local restoration shop will be doing the work. I gave them your thread and the magazine article. They are doing a lot of customization to the cab along with the rear window. I'm not the same size as I was when I had my first '57 30 years ago. Need to make as much room as possible for my 6'-6" body.
