What is this plug?

I've got both plugs already on the passenger side of the tranny and can't figure out where these two go. Any suggestions? I only recommend tranny, because the tape marking that came on them says tranny1.

Re: What is this plug?

I think those go on the driver side of the trans where the shift lever is. On the electronic transmissions there is a plastic box that slides over the shift lever shaft and I believe it outputs to the ecu and dash to say what gear the trans is in. I'm out of town during the week so I can't run out to the garage and check to be sure, sorry.

I think you're right. I might have removed that when I put on the lokar shifter. I'll check when I get home tonight.

Re: What is this plug?

Hey guys, does someone know if its required to use those connectors and or the "plastic box" on the tranny shifter when youre doing an ls/4l60 swap? Ive read in some websites people saying you have to and others saying you dont...??????

Re: What is this plug?

I was told you don't need the gear indicator; the trans uses the vss to decide which gear to be in.

Re: What is this plug?

I think those are for a transfer case I know you dont need them for the tranny to operate. the main one is the round one and two long black ones don't know what they are for but the round one is what makes it tick. I remember cutting some plugs like that off when i reworked my harness. but it came from a 4wd truck. lt1swap probably has that plug identified

Re: What is this plug?

Mike was right. I dug around and found the old gear shift indicator. Here is a pic of it and how I replaced it. I used the Dakota Digital Gear Shift indicator. I guess we'll see if it works?
