1991 K1500 4WD payload
I need to know the max payload for my 1991 K1500. VIN 1GTDK14Z4ME525873. The truck is V6, standard, 4WD, with 6 bolt wheels. Guessing this means it a heavy half but I don't know the payload for one.
The sticker on the door is faded away as is the one in the glove box. Found the vin number on the insurance card. Ran the vin number through one of the on line decoders but payload was not specified. Thinking it might be on the build sheet so I email socialmedia@gm.com and am waiting for a reply, may not see it for a while with the pandemic. I need to move a milling machine. Howard |

Re: 1991 K1500 4WD payload
All the 4wd 1/2 ton trucks were 6 lug. The only way it would be a "heavy half"(that term wasn't used on these trucks) would be if there is F44 in the RPO godes in the glovebox.
Most likely your truck does not have that code, and your GVW is 6,000-6,100 pounds. You'll need to get your truck on a scale and see how much it weighs with a full tank of fuel and you in it. Then subtract that from your GVW and that is your max payload. I can look up VINs and see all of the RPO codes but my program only goes back to 1992. Can you post a pic of the RPO codes in your glovebox? |

I can do the scale thing thanks. EDIT: The VIN decoders report say the trucks net weight is between 4100 and 4200 lbs. So not counting fuel and passengers I have about 1900 lbs to work with. Which is what I needed to know. Thanks Howard Last edited by 3v0; 04-02-2020 at 04:21 PM. |
