66 c10 motor mount position

Yanked out my great running 250 and 4 speed to make room for a 350 backed by a tremec tkx and I was wondering the pros and cons of using the current engine perch location vs moving it forward using an available hole? I know using the current location is advisable if I were going to reuse the sm420 bell crossmember but that too is getting removed. I've read on here the forward location will offer some welcome firewall clearance

Yes, moving it forward will provide some additional firewall clearance, however it's not 100% necessary. I've been running my 283 with an HEI for several years now in the original v8 location with no problems. If you keep it in the correct v8 location, you can use a short water pump and factory fan shroud. A 65 Impala fan and fan clutch works really nice with the factory shroud

Re: 66 c10 motor mount position

Would it be an option to drill some new holes and set them in between those positions?
