Re: 72 Plaid Sub

I hate that I discovered the push on seals AFTER I had already purchased the glue ons.

You think you'll make the Git Down with the Plaid Burb finished this year?

Yes, hopefully things are somewhat back to normal by the Git Down.

Re: 72 Plaid Sub

Had to do some adjusting on the 3rd door window frame to get it to match the other door gaps. Had to cut it loose, manhandle it a little, and weld it up.

Everything in high build primer but the hatch. Mine was rusted beyond repair.

Re: 72 Plaid Sub

Somewhere around September 2019 at this point. Got all the body work looking good and decided to pull the cab off the chassis and put it on a rotisserie to finish the floor and paint the roof. Probably should have done this earlier, oh well.

For the record, I was never comfortable flipping that cab over! I couldn't get rid of that rotisserie fast enough!

I sprayed 2 gallons of the Lizard Skin ceramic insulation and another 2 gallons of the thermal insulation on the bottom. Here is is sealed up, but I can't find the Lizard Skin pics anywhere.

Re: 72 Plaid Sub

certainly not, but the fact that you got that much real-estate straight as an arrow is quite the accomplishment!

It was really nice, just a lot of rotating mass there. I had done tons of metal and body work at that point and any accidents would have been real set back.

Beautiful work and I agree with some of the others, that is a lot of real estate to body work. I'll bet you had a few hours invested. Very nice.

Re: 72 Plaid Sub

I decided to have some custom emblems cut for the burb. Late last summer I was contacted by Street Trucks to be part of a "Rendering to Reality" article they were doing.

Re: 72 Plaid Sub

This Burb is looking great!
If I may make a suggestion. Get some of this radiant barrier from Aircraft Spruce. It is used for airplane firewalls and I put it on the underside of my trans hump. Aluminum facing the trans. It is peel and stick and I can honestly say that it COMPLETELY changed the temp at the hump area from unbearable to basically no heat at all. it is simply amazing how it literally is night and day different. The adhesive is rated up to 300 deg...and it is rated to reflect up to 2,000 deg! It is thin and light weight...
I also covered the underside of my roof and it turned the inside of the Burb from an oven to very comfortable!

Amazing build! The work going into this one is on a whole other level. Looking forward to seeing this one getting done. I also really love that red and white Blazer in the background of a few shots.

Touchdown. The cab is back on the frame. That metallic blue looks amazing in the afternoon sun.
