More progress today on the truck. The pictures really don't look a whole lot different but I have completed a ton of sanding today as well as a second coat where ever nessaccary. Most of my second coat is sanded as well so I will be below the trim pins next chance I have to get out there. My finger tips are almost bleeding and most of my fingerprints are gone. Now would be there perfect time to rob a bank to fund the rest of my build.

Well a whole evening of bondo work and I have hardly anything to show for it.

Those trim pins are a b*****d to sand around.

Haha funny you post that. I was just looking at one of those at home depot yesterday. Not in the budget right now unfortunately.

Yea those things are not in my budget either. My home air compressor is only 20 gallons and can't keep up with my angle grinder so I looked into the battery ones. I couldn't believe the price.

My brother in law has that one and all the other Milwaukee battery tools at the shop so I get to use them when I'm there. LOL

Yes my compressor is also only 20 gallons. I have a second 20 gallon tank (my old compressor that packed it in) hanging on the wall as an extra capacity tank and it will run air tools but it will never catch up until I stop.

Yea mine is especially bad when I weld sheetmetal. I put some tacks on and then use the blow gun to cool the metal and rinse and repeat. It runs constantly until I stop welding.

I have bought one of these and love it! Looking at buying another just so i dont have to switch from tools as often. Worth the investment!

I am going to be doing rollcages on both my sons C10 and my LS swapped S10 so I am going to buy one of these.

Just ordered one of these hole saw bits to drill 1 5/8' holes for mounting a crossmember through the frame.

That's a pretty nifty looking tool for getting nice notches in pipes. Should save you a ton of time on trial and error.

Well folks, I'd highly recommend running a straight edge along a long panel before you start doing filler or you end up like me, removing a section that was "finished" but was not straight.

I noticed today while finishing up sanding around those darned pins that the passenger side had a nice bow to it. I had to remove a section of filler and run the pinner down the length of the body line under the pins on the passenger side 3 times to get the bow out. Then I had to remove a bit more filler because the heat from the pinner melted off sections of filler. Man am I good at this.

The picture doesn't show how bowed it actually was. I hadn't dug out the filler yet that was already 1/8" thick. The worst of the bow had to be about 3/16" or greater.

I sure am although colour is going to be a while yet. I wanted to get the cab in primer so that I can get going on the frame and not have to worry about rust.

Finally finished sanding around the dreaded pins.

Now that I have that completed, it's almost smooth sailing from here. Though I will need more filler soon.

Got some more filler layed down and sanded off today. I've been struggling with a wave that I can't seem to get rid of where I welded up the original gas filler. I think my next attempt will be successful as I have hammered down a few high spots. While working with that, I also started to fill the vertical sections between all the dimples in the back of the cab. Slowly but surely getting there. Picked up a new gallon of filler the other day as well so I'm prepared.

Thank you. I honestly don't mind the actual bodywork itself, it's the dang dust everywhere that really sucks. If a guy goes into it knowing that it is a tedious job it's not so horrible. It will for sure payoff in the end and I'm excited to see the cab in primer.

Then again I will be doing a bunch of bodywork so I know exactly how you feel.

Just mocked up the mounts for the twin turbos yesterday so bodywork is now at least one step closer.

That's awesome! I am jealous that you appear to be completely ready for body work on all the panels. I still have alot of metalwork in my future.

Don't get me wrong I still have metalwork to do. I have replaced half the sheetmetal on the cab and still have to do all the floor/rocker welding from underneath and the cab supports. However, I am doing this alone in my garage and need to do things in the order I can which is dictated by whether the cab is on the frame or off. Since it's on now I needed to mock up motor/trans install and turbo install.

It's a never ending story.
