Help Identify 1967? NOS Dash Bezel

I bought this bezel from board member Robert Paul Thomas and am a little confused about it. The box has part # 6482923 on it but the back has numbers 6481631 black and 6481633 fawn. As you can see in the pictures it has WIPER-WASHER instead of WIPERS and where CHOKE should be molded in the plastic there is nothing. Ideas?

I think the "choke delete" bezels had nothing above the choke opening.
They just had the "GM" emblem shown below.

Are you interested in selling this bezel?

I'm am not where I can look, so I don't remember if it has wiper and washer. But, my choke hole is blank. It has an external tab that says choke. So.. Yours looks correct as far as that goes.. Mine is 68.

Re: Help Identify 1967? NOS Dash Bezel

Its a service part that replaced an earlier part 6457904.
It will be a functional replacement and not an exact duplicate of the assembly line part in many cases. Thus it stands to reason a 67-68 trim part is going to look more like the 68 than the 67 if there were any running changes.

The ...631 ...633 part numbers are probably original production numbers as they reflect the finish options black or fawn.
They are not in the service part system I can find.

Without pictures of the full bezel it is not possible to confirm if it is a Light or in fact the Medium duty part as the box number suggests.

Re: Help Identify 1967? NOS Dash Bezel

I've got 4 '67 gauge bezels plus the idiot light bezel that's on my truck. I don't know what numbers are on the back of the bezel on my truck, but it and one other bezel has just "Wipers" in the upper left corner...that gauge bezel has "FAWN 6459615" and "BLACK 6458042" on the back. The other three gauge bezels all have "Wiper-Washer" in the upper left corner and have "FAWN 6481633" and "BLACK 6481631" on the back. All of them have "CHOKE" in the upper right corner, and all have silver paint trim rather than chrome.

Hope this helps.

Re: Help Identify 1967? NOS Dash Bezel

So is the bezel you have a Medium Duty (C40 up) as the parts manual lists it? Or is it a Light Duty (C10-30) reboxed? The difference is in the steering column cutout. Like I said earlier a full picture would help here.

The box is incorrect for the part. The box is for medium duty and the part is light duty.

The numbers on the bezel say it's a light duty, which now the pictures show

Re: Help Identify 1967? NOS Dash Bezel

Any way you slice it its a nice and rare bezel. A bezel without "choke" over the choke hole can be highly coveted by those wanting to run their choke delete emblem (ask me how I know). Especially to us two-year only guys. Nice piece!
