Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

Well i forgot to take pictures of me pulling out the dent, but my buddy loaded me his stud welder and those things are sweet! I pulled it out in a couple of hours and put a skim coat of bondo on it, The best part is that their is going to be less than an eighth of an inch of bondo on it!

Anyways, i started on another little mod to clean up the door jambs, we will see how that turns out. Pics...

Welded...

Smoothed...

Door closed...

Some more bondo on the front...

My bondo and makeshift guide coat...

Filled hole...

Bondo!

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

Thanks for all the complements!

Yes this is how I did the drip rails, about 2-3 inches at a time. They will take a little if filler work to get perfect, but not too much. I have also decided to cut the roof off to mold the front into the windsheild. Never ending...

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

It seems like after every one mod you have to do twenty more..

I pie cut the a pillars to bring the tops in to match the roof line where the drip rails used to be.

notice how the a pillar dosent stick out any more

i Decided that i wanted to get rid of the squared off end over the door where the drip rail used to be, i welded in a rounded peice to round it out into the door.

Well you shouldn't have to get underneath the rear! lol.

But I mean unless he plans to hope it then there isnt much use to get 4' of lift in the rear.

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

I misunderstood, I thaught you were talking about the car lift!

The rear end was just jacked up in that pic to I could get it out to make way for the new one...

P.S. This is the future...

Looking good. You've got a lot of patients with all of that cab work.

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

Hey thanks for the support!
This is kind of a slow process because in only a junior and im pretty busy with school, with work, and now other peoples cars...

Anyways i did get a little body work done and some better pics...

Here is whats up next. The door frame does not come out flush with the rest of the cap so i started tinkering with widening the door frame. I also am considering leaving the door frame completely off and making the window flush with the cab similar to the blazers..

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

My A.D.D. kicked in again, I think its just me trying to avoid bodywork...

Then I noticed that it wasn't symmetrical...

Then I quickly fixed this little problem. (Its always bothered me)

Re: Project Slammed 67 longbed

I got my one piece window kit from brothers and immediately decided that the doors would have to be modified...
The way the factory had the window frame in further than the cab body line worked fine with drip rails, but without drip rails it just looks unfinished. So i cut the window frame off to move the entire thing out, however this made it so that the window would not roll up. I cut an eighth of an inch strip out of the small edge where the window comes out of the door, i then re welded it into place. to bring the back of the window opening out to match the front i made some pie cuts down the door and brought the whole top section of the door in. Now all i have to do is weld the window frame back on and i should be set to go!... then the other side

I also re-replaced the driver rocker... I had to cut it up quite a bit but I got it to fit very nicely.

Pie cut down the door

Finished gap

Mocking it up to weld the frame back in
