I like the boards on the ramp to keep it from dragging the headers on the cinder block entrance of the doorway. I bet it can stop on a dime and roll down the road like it was on rails!

We took our first maiden voyage out of the neighborhood over the weekend. The first trip was short and all went well. On the second trip I decided to go fil her up with gas. The gas station was a little further and it would be a good test. On the way back to the house I decided to keep going. It was a beautiful day and the truck was on the road!!! Well, I should have stopped

Got down the road about 1/2 mile and the front brakes decided to hold on and not let go. At first, I thought the transmission was the culprit as it wouldn't shift out of first gear. Then I realized it was the brakes holding it back. Limped back up the hill to the house and the brakes were hot! Let her cool down and they freed up.

Everything I've read points to the pin being too long between the MC and booster. I'm going to shim the MC out tonight and see if that cures the problem. We have a dyno appointment Friday we have to be ready for! LOL

There's always something, isn't there? But that's the purpose of short trips - work out the little bugs that come up in the first 50 miles.

In the vain of "it's always something" here we go.

I went home last night enthusiastic about putting a couple spacers in the MC and feeling confident that would resolve the front brake locking issue. I drove the truck around and finally felt the pedal getting hard. NASCARed a jack under it and the front wheels wouldn't turn by hand. Started to back off the nuts on the MC to find this!!

Not sure if the shop broke it putting it back on when they were messing with it or if it broke due to stress or what. To add insult to injury after the nuts were loosened the front tires freed up some but not like they should. So, I need a new MC and still don't know what is causing this issue. I'm now leaning more toward the prop valve than I am the MC.

Well that's not something you see every day. I stuck with the factory booster/master cylinder/prop valve off the Astro van and haven't had any problems!

That's an odd break for sure. I am running the aftermarket one from CPP. Prior to that I was running a factory one off a Tahoe that had hydroboost. I chose that one because it had front disks and rear drums. I'll look at mine tonight to see what I can learn. How is yours mounted to the firewall?

This is an Astro van hydro. I've seen several projects using them with no issues. I am all four disc now and I know the Astro was disc/drum but I'm told the hydro won't impact that. The MC is a Wilwood that bolts right up to the hydro. My hydro is bolted directly to the firewall using the Astro factory studs.

I agree that ghe hydroboost is all the same. I'm pretty sure mine is off a truck but that won't matter. I do have a 1/4 inch plate between mine and the firewall. My rod is also adjustable. I'm not sure what would cause your brakes to hang like that.

I'm remembering that I used that plate because of the nut or a step so it wouldn't sit flat. I don't have a bracket per say just that plate. If that makes sense

My brakes were a total mishmash. I had a Cpp master with a spacer in the piston to allow it to go manual or power. Also has an adjustable out pin on the booster. Wound up cutting the spacer down and fine tuning with the adjuster. The one I just finished was a Cpp kit and the master had to be spacered out 1/4" to not drag/overpressure the brakes. Works great now. That intersection is so important, yet so overlooked.

GM has 2 different styles of HB setups.

Im running a C3 disc/disc master on my one of my HB setups.

U need to call wilwood to verify but I believe they are right. Wilwood calipers from what I’ve been told can’t do HB. The pressure is to high. Roughly 1200 psi is what they can handle. So..if u run manual or regular booster, then they will work. Hydro has 1800 or more psi and the pistons n the calipers are not designed for that. This is why when they got the pressure off of the caliper the brake released.

I’m pretty sure there are MANY cars and trucks running a Wilwood m/c with hydro boost.
Many companies sell them together as a kit.
Your issue looks like a “pushrod length” problem to me.
That would explain the calipers locking up and the broken mounting tab.

Agreed. The Wilwood calipers aren't impacted by the hydroboost. I did talk to Wilwood and they did not mention that they can't be ran with HB. I will be shortening the pin and hopefully that will take care of it. I wish I could find the measurements already done but I haven't had any luck.

Got the tune done on Friday at LSxKilers Custom Calibrations in Bonner Springs KS. She runs well now. Got an extra 70hp out of her with a cam and headers. Next upgrade will be bigger injectors as the dyno proved it needed them beyond 4700 rpm. I was just glad it all held together on the pulls

At a former job I used to coordinate tv commercials for the firm. I got to know the people at the studio very well so, when they contacted me about using the truck in an infomercial I was pretty excited to get to work with them again. This was a two hour shoot for a vacuum cleaner. They basically set it up to look like the guy was just out cleaning his truck in the driveway....we had to add dirt

Made a little money and when they are all done I will get a vacuum. Win win.

Not sure where this will air, but when I get the link I will share it.

My favorite pic is the yellow tape on the rockers. Took me a second...because at first I recoiled seeing that boot casually dangling out the door.

But of course you had that covered.

It all looks fantastic. Here's wishing you many miles and no bugs (biologic or mechanical).
