Re: 52 Project
Well the sanding has stopped for a while and dad shot the dash this past week. I took a couple of pictures but I didn't realize that there was so much dust on it, but here they are anyway. Hopefully if the weather cooperates this week we can get the cab shot.

Re: 52 Project
Thanks, it looks better in person, the picture doesn't really do it justice. Good luck on yours, it is rewarding to get the paint in it. Ours isn't going to be a show car by any means but a nice driver.

Re: 52 Project
Nice choice on color!
The dash looks great, nothing a little bit of 1500 won't cure. Keep going you are almost finished!!

Re: 52 Project
Thanks, It is 50th anniversary Corvette red. Looks really killer in the sun light and almost a dark maroon in the shop. I really like it.

Re: 52 Project
It's actually a 3stage paint, color first then a coat of the tinted sparkle......it looked like a clear with metal flake...then clear coat. I was very happy with the way it came out. I was down there again yesterday and just keep looking at it. Some times I even surprise myself! Lol

Re: 52 Project
Thanks guys, the color is awesome and I am really happy with my dads choice. He went through several colors and this is what he settled on. I am most pleased with the way the body work turned out. I had my doubts...lol. With as much welding and patching that we did I think the body turned out pretty nice. I told dad the other weekend that I could probably spend another year nit picking ever little thing but we needed to stop somewhere and move forward. I am such a perfectionist and a lot of people don't understand, like dad! Anyway I am very satisfied with the way it has turned out so far. Thanks for the compliments and now on to the rest of it.

Re: 52 Project
I was down messing with the truck today and my mom found some pictures of the day we brought the truck home. She had them dated October 1977, man that was a long time ago. But finally it is getting closer to driving again!!!! Here are the photos I scanned.

Re: 52 Project
Got the doors and hinges shot today. I had to leave early so dad finished up the clear. It looks like we missed some spots but that is a reflection from the makeshift paint booth. Here are a couple of pictures before the clear.

Re: 52 Project
So I have been doing a lot of little stuff that seems to eat up a bunch of time. I got the steering all put in, the shifter linkage and throttle cable installed. I am hoping to get the brake lines installed in the next few weeks and then maybe I can finish buttoning up the front sheet metal. I took a picture of my dad when we were test fitting the throttle pedal and he was making motor noises...lol. Here are a few pictures I took today. Enjoy.
Bernie P.S. I just noticed while looking at these pictures that I really need to give this thing a bath!!!!! Please ignore the mess. Thanks |
