Don't mean to hyjack, but what are those radio's worth?? I have one from my old 87 that I believe is the very same thing as that one, but none of the chrome is faded, and not to pour salt on a wound, but the shaft ain't bent.....

I was going to delete this post but I thought I'd leave it up for others future reference. The post office is NOT the way to ship parts that can be damaged in shipping. In addition to this radio they damaged an AC plenimum they crushed it. If your are the seller or the buyer your best bet is to take it to The UPS Store (or like packaging outfit) to have the item properly packaged and shipped insured. In both cases the items I bought were packaged well by the seller under normal care conditions, but not well enough to withstand the abuse the Post Office can deliver. YES this will cost more but as you can see in the photos the radio is now junk and useless. ANY parts I buy in the future and have shipped I will request UPS packaging and shipment.

I guess it's just the luck of the draw. I have shipped with USPS and UPS/FedEx for years and have had no damaged items from either.

I just want to update this and add alittle information for everyone...I just shipped a tilt column through UPS...it was the same price as USPS...in that price I got $100 insurance (this is standard on every package), delivery confirmation, signature confirmation, and I know UPS will take care of the package until USPS...
I will NEVER ship anything through the USPS again except if someone requests it...period |
