Re: LM2 duramax 3.0 swap

Just to follow up on my orig question, I've been in contact with a couple of high profile diesel shops, they say at this time, theres nothing being produced to make the 3.0 a standalone engine
I could have swore I saw somewhere someone was putting one in a old truck...coulda been my imagination I guess..

Re: LM2 duramax 3.0 swap

I'm betting it can be done it just might take some time to get it all sorted out with a tuner. I haven't seen any in any older trucks and from the few I've been around, they have a lot of security built into the electronics which could make it difficult to stand a lone.

Re: LM2 duramax 3.0 swap

Thanks Ryan...I was hoping youd chime in..
I know I saw somewhere that someone was putting one in a older truck..but for the life of me I cant find it now
I was kinda surprised at the responses I got from the diesel guys when I asked..
But you may be right about all the electrical being the thing to overcome..

Re: LM2 duramax 3.0 swap

I own a truck with this engine and like it a lot, nothing but good experiences with it so far. We will see how it does as it gets up in miles and time, the emissions setup is concerning to me and its longevity. I have been watching and hoping to see a plug and play setup for this engine, I think it would be great for the aftermarket and for retro builds like you guys mentioned.

Re: LM2 duramax 3.0 swap

It would defiantly make for a perfect motor for an old truck.
