95 Caprice Classic 5.7L
What are the upgrade options?
I am sure cam and lifters top the list. With the older control systems are upgrades an issue for tuning? It lists at 260HP. I am just about sure it is a standard 4" bore. Is there a particular head casting for these blocks/intakes that are preferred? My son is taking on a project of his own and this may be his donor car. Sort of testing the waters. My big project is about to finish and I am working toward starting mine but may help him get his kicked off first. Thoughts? Scott |

That would be an LT1 engine. The Optispark ignition is its Achille's heel. There are plenty of upgrades available. You'll find a lot of information on 4th-generation Camaro forums. This is the one I belong to:

Like said it is just a LT1 reverse cooped 350. Although witha caprice you may have a L99 4.3.
Either engine takes many standard standard sbc parts. Cams are easy to come by. For tuning look up 24x, and torq head. That way you get rid of the opti spark, but gain coil near plugs. The early corvette or camaro heads are the desired ones. You would have iron heads, and aluminum versions would be most desired. |
