Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

I want everyone to be Kabwe friend! note this from what he's saying!" or having a really good friend who has skills and is willing to help.
I get what you're saying, for me I can't afford to take my truck to a shop to have it done. I had 2 body man come to give me estimates to paint my truck and this is after me doing all the bodywork and they said 7 to 10K, I was even going to supply the paint. I will try to do it myself, if I screw it up then I can say I tried but I know I will spend the time to at least care about what I'm trying to do.

Tri5nerd,
I don't know about this master stuff I just know that no one cares about my rides as much as I do, so I would drive a shop crazy if they worked on my car. A guy told me he took his car to a shop that was suppose to great and he went to visit his ride and was totally shocked at the low quality of the repairs and he told the shop owner "Man give me the car back cause I can f*** up sh** myself".lol Thats how I feel I can mess it up myself and I will work harder to try and fix it also. Now I'm not saying that all shops are like this, but I know the ones that I could afford most likely do low quality work.lol Good work= learning to do it yourself, or having a really good friend who has skills and is willing to help, or just having a huge bank account.

Thank you for the compliment Fat Mike but the truck is not going as fast as I like because I'm so busy with other stuff and some of the jobs on it are more involved then I realized, so I have no idea when it will be up and running again

The Crusie night at the Rubys Dinner is from like May to Oct. and the other one in Inglewood is every Tuesday night. Go here this gives you a list of Cruise spots in SoCal. it's a good site shows you cruise nites for 7 days a week. Keep in mind there are cruise nites that aren't even listed. Ricky & Ronny's is no more. http://www.socalcarculture.com/cruise_nights.html

More cutting, fixen & workin'. Welding my ash tray hole. Yeah I may have gotten carried away with the fiberglass kitty hair but just wanted good coverage to fill in holes and low spots, most of it was sanded away then the body filler. Have some knobs I removed and Cigarette lighter hole all to be welded in. Just trying to make the dash less busy. And more KOOL trucks that have crossed my path.

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

naval jelly is the bomb!

A trick I learned long ago was when treating the inside of say a rusty panel, You coat the inside with this jelly and wait till it dries (24 hrs).

it coats and dries like a rock. then do your body work to the outside and never worry again of the rust coming through.

great KOOL pics...

Re: My Pro Street '56 GMC Pick'em Up

KEEP THE EXPLANATION SIMPLE STUPID..... I'll try. I cut off an inverted hump on the left front fender well and flipped it around and welded it back on so the hump will cover up the wires coming out of the firewall. Why? Because I hate the sight of wires coming out of the firewall. And stripped & welded up holes & smoothed & trimed both fender wells for a better look and fit. Well BC WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST RELOCATE THE WIRES? I did that a long time ago, not going to do it again it's easier to cut and weld.

I'm still working on it but nothing worth taking pictures of . I'm doing some work on the dash, stripping the hood and replacing all the old hex head bolts in the engine bay with the allen button head bolts & welding up some bolt holes on the fire wall and floor and welding up the Chevy/GMC emblem holes in the front fenders, relocating some items that were on the fire wall where it slants at a 45 degree angle. There is a lot of detail stuff I'm doing. When I get to a certain point I will take more photos and post them. But if I were to put them up now folks would wonder , WHAT THE HELL IS HE DOING TO HIS TRUCK? There is a method to my madness. About ready to install the left lower hinge pocket and install a access door to get to the master cyl. under the floor. In the mean time I just enjoy coming on here looking at all the gr8 projects. Thanks for dropping by.
