What size fuse are guys installing in the main power link before the junction box?

Yes. It’s on the main power feed just before the junction terminal.

When I redid my wiring on my 67' I believe I used a 40 amp MAXI fuse on an 8awg wire to my power bus

I used the 16 gage fusible link that was 8 inches long on my 72 based on the above threads. So far so good!

You should have 2 the factory fuse that can be replaced (4A) SFE glass fuse. This is what came from the factory. They inside the little black plastic tube.
