Yes, they are awesome. The first time I used one I was afraid that it would just push around the stuff it picked-up and make scratches, it does not. THe smootheness it leaves behind is surprising.

I used to detail cars as a side business and have been using clay for the last 20 years. It's the only way to really "clean" your paint BEFORE waxing it

I spoke to a guy that is in the detailing business last night and he has also been using clay for years. He told me not to waste money on the detail spray, he said he uses it with plenty of water and it works just as well,, he buys his clay at the local jobber (Keystone Automotive) and spends less than what the whole kit costs I look forward to trying it myself.

I have used clay for several years but the last time I experimented on my wife's Tahoe using only water, no detailer and it left alot of scratches. I kept it very wet, it just didn't work. The next time I filled a spray bottle with some water and car wash soap but it wasn't much better. The detailer seems to make it glide like butter. Just my experience.

I'm glad this came back to the top as I am needing to clean and wax the paint on my truck.

LEEVON, which products have you used? Mothers, Meguiars,...?

Re: meguiars clay bar kit works!

I used the clay bar to get some overspray off of some painted interior pieces and it worked great!

I have used both mothers and meguiars, they both work equally as good and love to use them,

Re: meguiars clay bar kit works!

Thanks for the pics byrd!

Out of curiousity... my truck needs a little revivement on the paint side. Would a clay bar kit be the best next step? I'm not sure how long it's been since it was waxed last, but my plan was to do a clay bar treatment, followed by a compound treatment, ending with a nice coat of wax. Any other recommendations or things I need to consider?
