Header issues

I'm looking for a set of longtubes that doesn't hang to low. I bought a set of dougs headers for a chevelle but they atent gonna work. It's a sbc. Does anyone have any other ideas of a company that makes headers for our c10's that don't hang down so far? Not wanting to go mid length and I can't find anyone to custom make a set.

Re: Header issues

I'm thinking we need more information.

What is the problem with the Chevelle headers?

Can you define for us what you consider to be too low?

Why do you not want a mid-length header?

How much horsepower does your engine make?

What size tubing are you looking for?

Re: Header issues

I used Sanderson BB8’s, very high set but are for big blocks. I think they have an equivalent for sbc.

Re: Header issues

I used hooker headers for 68-72 c10 small block 1 3/8 long tube stock ride height and they went in from the top with no problem.

Re: Header issues

As stated would love more info on why the Chevelle headers didn't work. There's been many discussions on here about headers for SBC trucks and I'm always curious on what seems to fit the best and give good clearance. I have a 427SBC going in my truck with a No Limit front subframe but want the headers to tuck up and I need full length long tubes to let the engine breathe!

*edited to add some links of discussions I've saved*

Re: Header issues

Search Summit using truck year/engine type. There are over 100 headers for SBC in Gen 2 C10. Details on each list if work with Z bar (manual, PS, etc.)

Re: Header issues

I need a minimum 1 3/4" tube size. Engine is a 406 with a ysi supercharger. Should be around 900hp. That is why I want longtubes. And not mid length shorty

The chevelle headers have a weird u bend on the passenger header that won't allow it to clear the oil pan to get it on.

Re: Header issues

The square body dougs long tubes don't hang below the bottom of the a arms.
Having our 68 and the 73 together I don't see why they wouldn't fit.
However they're 1-5/8 tubes..
