2007 Yukon Denali XL lift gate question.

I have a problem with my 2007 GMC Yukon Denali liftgate that won't open or close electrically. When I hit the remote button I hear the lock motor disengage, the lights flash but the gate won't go up.

When opened manually if I try to close it with the remote the lift motor starts then stops. This tells me the motor is getting 12v, and I have checked the recommended fuses as well. If I manually release and open the gate the struts will hold it up so I don't feel they are bad.

Is the motor weak? Does it have a protect circuit that shuts it down? I am not sure which way to look from here.

I don't have any answers, but a safety mechanism comes to mind, like the lockout feature when its in gear or what ever module controls it (BCM?) has lost track of it? Maybe it doesn't know if it is open or closed?

Re: 2007 Yukon Denali XL lift gate question.

The gate does have a switch on the over head console to open it or turn it off which makes it manual. I checked that switch and it is fully functional. It seems like it might be a sensor but I don't know how to check them or where they are located. I may call the dealer tomorrow and see what they say.

It may need a new lift support shock. I have seen that happen before, also have seen the sensor being the cause. With a tech2 they will be able to tell pretty quickly what the problem is.

Did you figure out what went wrong? My 2012 is having similar problems.

It was the control module. I took it to the dealer and they covered that and several other minor issues with a 100.00 deductible. I don't have extended warranty, but they knew I was in the process of buying a 2012 Denali from them

Re: 2007 Yukon Denali XL lift gate question.

Thanks, I am wondering if mine isn't an operator problem! Or maybe it is intermittent!

On the weekend I tried opening the power liftgate with the key fob and it would not open. Tonight I went out to the garage and when I pushed the overhead console button it worked just fine.

Do you need to hold the fob button down for a few seconds? We just bought this and drove it home, still trying to figure out how things work.
