Aside from trying to explain to Clyde65 the differences in motor mounts between the '63-'66's and the '67-'72's. All I was saying is you need to just switch sides....take the one on the left side and put it on the right side and vice-versa. I think that would have solved your problem.

I called my friend who has an unmolested 72 Chevy and his are in the same way that mine are in the pic. He also has a sbc 1/2 ton 2wd. I got it in. Just slotted most of the holes in the engine stands and frame in order to gain some width between the engine stands. It must be the 3/8" thickness of the plates that is the issue. thanks guys!
