Tilt column problems

The tilt column I got with the truck I bought was not installed yet.It looks like it's rebuilt and very good shape.I notice it does not have a tang that sticks up to make the back up switch work? There is a slot there but no tang, the blow up diagram in my service manual doesn't show a back up switch on the column.any one have ideas? Thanks so much with your help with my problems, this web site is great!

Re: Tilt column problems

If you have a converted van column, they use a different switch than the truck they fit into a slot rather than over a tang.

Re: Tilt column problems

Most van columns have the switch in the wrong location. The switch needs to be in the truck switch location which is about 8" from the lower end of the
column.

You may want to check the location of the switch on your tilt.

Post some pictures of your column on here, we can tell you exactly what you have.
