New exhaust

My truck had a SI/DO Flowmaster and pipes when I bought it. It was ok for the fact it made some noise, but I never really cared for it, since it sounded like all other trucks with the same setup. The welds started rusting so I used that as a reason to get new exhaust. I had a single 3" pipe ran from the Y all the way to the back with a Magnaflow muffler.

Here's a few pics I took with my cell phone. Ill try to get a video soon, but it's really not that impressive since it's rather quiet and subdued.

Re: New exhaust

How long is the magnaflow? On my 02, I looked at catback duals, but did not like the pricing? Opted for a short (14" body magnaflow, 2 1/2 in/out). The stock pipes are used, with a short stub of 2 1/2 " pipe on ea end & welded 4 places. The little 4.8 has a nice rumble around town, cool on the hyway to about 70mph cruise....but has a little drone above 72 mph on the hyway? It looks like a nice job on your system Longhorn

Re: New exhaust

It's probably a 14" muffler. It's pretty much the same size as a Flowmaster. It has a great sound. It has a nice throaty rumble at idle and at cruise speed. There's a little bit of drone at certain rpm levels of acceleration, but anywhere above 60 mph at a steady cruise speed, it's very quiet. I hear the highway noise from the tires more than the exhaust. The old Flowmaster was noisy at any level.

Also, at start up, when the engines revs up just a bit, the Flowmaster was kinda loud and obnoxious, but with the new Magnaflow, it's just a nice burble. Not too loud, but not all too quiet either.
