barn door inside handle?

what went in this hole?? every door i see is missing this handle.

No handle there from the factory, just the cover plate.

Do you mean they just put a flat metal plate over it?

You can see the plate hanging down in the picture you posted. If the plate isn't installed you can put your hand inside the door and open it easily from the inside.
