Re: New doors

Yoshi, not sure but I think this is what you are looking for. If it is you just remove the old rubber and slide in the new. May have to remove the old rubber with a screwdriver. Lube up the new rubber and install. Hope this helps...Jim

Re: New doors

Thanks Oldman, I have new doors on my project so no old rubber to remove. I'm not sure that I even have the Chanel for the rubber to slide into or is it part of the reveal moulding?

Re: New doors

The outside rubber slides into a slot in the door inside under the window opening. The inside felt staples to the inside window moulding.

Re: New doors

Like Brian said, it should be part of the door. You may have to remove your glass to be able to see the channel, and install the rubber...Jim

Re: New doors

There's no glass in yet, I think I have to bend the channel up a little to hold the rubber in. I've made the window channels-

Re: New doors

I've spent a total of 3hrs on this door, I've turned the rubber round, I've hit it with a hammer. If you thought hanging a door is stressful! I did the other door in 30 mins. I just can't get the last 1/2" to go in

Re: New doors

I can't make out exactly what any of that looks like, you need way closer photos. There is a slot in the channel about 1/4 of the way forward from the rear as I remember. Here are some shots of one of my doors. You tuck it in from one side then into the other side. Then you fold up the flap to hold it from moving.

Re: New doors

I can't make out anything like mine has, does that door even have the slotted channel mine does?

Re: New doors

The rubber is suppose to slide in on a round "rope" like end right into the slot which is shaped like pipe split open.

Re: New doors

This is what the cross section of the rubber looks like and the metal is a tube like piece that the rubber slips into.

Re: New doors

When aligning doors (fitting) it makes a big difference if the door is fully loaded ( glass, reg, latches, etc.) on how they hang.

The door on my '57 fit great nice gaps all around then I pulled the glass, etc. out to install Altman latches and power window regulators, at this point the door was lighter and no longer closed . It raised up 1/4" without the guts in it.

With any luck it will settle back down when reassembled and be in line.

Re: New doors

Wrong, yep, "Reproduction" it's "similar" but never exact, I would say that is a hundred miles from exact. Unless it was different in some years or something like that, all I have ever seen is the one I have shown you.
