Barn Find and great deal!! 1972 CST 4x4

Over the weekend I found an ad for a double wall top, went and looked at it purchased for 50.00 and the owner says I've got a 72 in the barn if you want to look at, long story short its 72 CST 4x4 with GM crate motor installed in 2002 with 4300 documented miles on it, single wall top, factory roll bar, solid rust free tub, purchased for $ 800 yep I scored!

YES!! 850 with another double wall top, new radiator and dual exhaust installed with the engine, he just quit driving it when he retired and lost interest in it.

Nice score! Just goes to show you that there ARE people who have no idea on the value of these trucks.

Re: Barn Find and great deal!! 1972 CST 4x4

I havent really decided what my plans are for it, I'm in the middle of my frame off restoratoin on my 70, the rolling chassis is almost done with the LS 6.0 conversion and then onto body work. I really dont need this 72 other than the single wall top I want, I can put a double wall on it or I have a soft top I was going to sell I could put on it. At the moment I've already drained the tank, changed the oil, tonight I'm checking the points and firing it up, it turns over just has no spark I'm sure the points are stuck. The Blazer has been indoors since 2002, the brakes work fine and guages appear to work when I turn the key on. I'll keep you posted if and when I sell.

Yes it was local between Stayton and Lyons only 5 miles out of town, the gentlemen never thought about selling it unitl I looked at, I told him to put a number on he thought and said how about 1000, I kicked a rock and offered 800 he instantly said fine with me. I've only heard about deals like this they never fall in my lap,

Re: Barn Find and great deal!! 1972 CST 4x4

Update on the barn find, last night I put 5 gallons of fresh non ethanol fuel in the tank, pulled clean fuel up to the carb with an electric pump, hooked up the fuel line and cranked it over, I could tell when the Holley was full because of the gas leaks!!!! As soon as the carb was full it came to life and purrs like kitten, I was so happy to hear it run with only 4300 miles on the engine I was sceptical if it has some underlying problem, looks like the only thing I need to do is rebuild the Holley. The turbo 350 shifts fine and the brakes are working so far....

Re: Barn Find and great deal!! 1972 CST 4x4

Update,,, Work exploded so I've been away for awhile, okay after removing the carpet and foam pad the previous owner installed I was pleasantly surprised to find a solid floor!!! The passenger rocker is solid as a rock, drivers side was punky so I removed it and installed a new drivers rocker box, new fuel lines, filter, transmission service, engine service and she's running perfect!!! Time to get the top off, I'm thinking about having the floor bed lined, any thoughts on that?? Could that hurt or help re sale value? I dont think I'm keeping this Blazer but would like to drive it while I'm building my 70

A few updated pics, dust knocked off the motor (only 4300 miles) and new rocker on!
