Is your Bronco on fire? Ford has the fix...

Rather than actually fixing leaking injectors, Ford dealers will install a tube to allow the fuel to drain to the ground. They'll also install software to cripple your engine if the ECU senses low fuel pressure:

Is the ghost of the Pinto hanging around Ford headquarters?

.

Throwing software at a hardware problem. Yes...it's been done before.

In 2009 or so, bmw knew they had a hardware issue with their turbos on the new twin turbo 3 series (335). Indeed the fix was a software fix that reduced the engine output in an attempt to mask, delay, prevent turbo waste gate failure. This was met with a very huge outcry from consumers of these vehicles. Eventually they ponied up and fixed the engines with actual hardware but it took some pushing to make them do it right.

Ferd is admitting there will be a fuel leak and they simply want software detection of leak to maybe shut off or put the engine in limp mode to provide safety...oh and a DRAIN PIPE? Jesus.

They pee fuel on the ground but we need EPA approved gas cans .

Dodge did something similar the 07 trucks and jeeps and other years when you shifted into park it sometimes was is reverse even though the indicator said park and you could turn off the truck and remove the key . The solution was to have the horn blow when you opened the drivers door . Instead of fixing the linkage and or trans . Real bandaid approach . I believe this is how the actor that played Checov in the new Star Trek movies was killed by his Jeep he got out walked behind the vehicle and it pinned him against the wall

Mark,
I am lucky that I live across a bridge from Canada. They have good ‘ol’ fashion gas cans at Canadian Tire. I’ve spilled more out of these EPA Cans than got in the tank.

Interesting... I don't live near Canada, but there must be some way to get one.

Re: Is your Bronco on fire? Ford has the fix...

I recently bought these, no frills and they work without all the crap. I got 4 gas cans and 3 diesel cans to get away from the plastic crap.
