Arm Rest options

I am considering options for arm rests on my '53 AD.

Below are some pics of reproduction pieces I am considering. One is supposedly a 53/54 Chev passenger car and the other is from a 55/56 Chev passenger car.

I've been told Chevy passenger car arm rests from the same era fit in the original mounting holes on our trucks, but I can't find measurements to confirm.

Does anyone know if these would fit my AD without modification to the door?

Appreciate the help.

Re: Arm Rest options

According to this 53/54 Cars have a 5-1/8 Bolt center. https://store.fillingstation.com/det...BLY_BEIGE.html

I get right at 5-7/8 on one of my 53 doors.

You'll have to put one hole in, as the holes are closer. But yes, they will work.

Re: Arm Rest options

A rivnut, Nutsert or what ever other name they call them would be pretty handy with mounting that.
The one 72Mountaineer showed sure looks like it belongs there rather than just being something that was stuck on.

You can't use something like that that accepts a bolt/screw at a 90deg. angle. The screw holes for the armrests are at a 45 (or more)deg. angle. Choose your screw that you will use, drill a size smaller hole, stick a long skinny chisel in the hole, bend it down so the screw will go into it at an angle.
Thanks for the compliment.

Re: Arm Rest options

I didn't realize that they had that much angle on them.
