Re: 1970 swb K10 Resurrection (AKA "The Chum Bucket") "Photos"

if you are gonna plow you need "pizza cutters" as I call em I usually use 235 85 16 tall n skinny in western and central NY we measure snow in feet!

Re: 1970 swb K10 Resurrection (AKA "The Chum Bucket") "Photos"

It has been slow going but hope to break the cam in soon. The tires were tough to find in 16.5" but was finally able to find Specialty tire of America that makes an entire line of old school bias ply mud/snow tread in 16.5". Check them out: http://www.stausaonline.com/light-tr...r-traxion.html

I really wanted to use the 16.5x6 wheels. Can't go very wide with them.

I got my set from these guys. http://tiremartusa.com/p-135-super-t...-tubeless.aspx

They had great prices. The 9.50 x 16.5 were about $40 cheaper than anyone else I could find. I did have a problem with one that took several months to resolve but in the end they made good.

I haven't mounted them yet nor have I got the truck on the road, but I can tell you these oldschool design mud/snow bias tires won't be quiet! If he wants quiet go with a modern radial particularly if he is going to primarily be on highways.

Thanks, I Started this build string before the 4x4 one was established. That just tells me its taking too long to finish this project. It's all good!

Hubs and discs are assembled and mounted on the spindles. More baby steps.

Actually have been working on it. Rearched the springs and added one leaf front and back. Got the engine together and broke in the cam. Now I am back on the bodywork and lots of blocking on the 2k high build urethane primer. Hope to get color on it in the next month or so.*

Yup, actually just got in from the garage from applying another coat of high build 2k primer on the rockers and back section of the cab. I hope to have color on by the end of the week, I hope! I will post some photos once I get some color on.

I am new to the truck scene and have a question for ya. The u-joints in my 72 seem to be welded in, can they be modified to a press fit/clipped u-joint or will I have to buy new axles. Sorry for thr noob question, just out of the loop at this point. Your truck is looking great and thanks a bunch for all of the pics.

Welcome aboard! Did someone weld them as they are held in with c clips from the factory. Once the clips are removed the caps press out. Post some photos if you have any.

Re: 1970 swb K10 Resurrection (AKA "The Chum Bucket") "Photos"

I surely will post some pics as soon as I get caught up. I read in LMC that there are two different types of u-joints, one of which is the welded version. Wasn't sure if this was done at the factory or not. If I can source out some that aren't that will prolly be the path I will go. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
