Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

I have been looking in this section and in the 4x4 section and I can't seem to find very many 88-98 standard cab 4x4's. So like the title says, let's see some.

Thanks
Benjamin.

Not to jump in front of TNZ, but I believe those wheels only came on 2007+ Escalade EXTs. They were the base wheel, but most of those trucks came with 20s.

I agree that they look really sharp on his truck with the bowtie center caps. I think they fit the look of the truck really well, since it's an original Sport model, meaning it didn't have a lot of chrome to begin with.

OBS? I'm not sure what that means. I do know that in this context it doesn't mean Orange Blossom Special.

Sharp looking truck there 95. There's a longbox, non-Z71 at school. It's even the same color.

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

Here is my 92 GMC K1500 Z71 reg cab long box. I bought it written off on the left side ( can ya tell) and brought it back to life as my DD. I'm rather fond of it too. These 88-98's have really grown on me. I plan on upgrading the head lights and have a new set of bumpers for it too. I have a diesel bumper for the front and would love to find a set of the factory fog lights that fit in the bumper holes. I also have a 3.73 14 bolt to put in the rear. I need a 3.73 front if anybody really close has one they are parting with.

4x4 thats now a 4x2 but still sits like a 4x4.....front diff was bad so i took all that crap out... cut the axles down and removed 200lbs off the truck front end....

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

What we all need to remember is that prior to the redesign that was done for the '88 model year, there was no regular production extended cab. Ford and Dodge had them for many years before GM got on the right track. So, all those folks who had a crush on the idea of an extended cab and were loyal GM fans went nuts over the new extended cab body style. For a person who hunts, the extended cab offered them some extra room that was also secure. At that point, the regular cab 4 wheel drive kinda fell into the "red-headed step child" genre. I don't have production totals by body style to back up my opinion. But that is my feeling based on what I have seen and in agreement with your statement as to what you see in pix on the site.

Yeah, mines a standard cab but I agree. I think they look better than an extended cab but don't offer the utility. I would like buckets seats but because we use when we go hunting and fishin I need the seating for three. With an x cab the back seat is mega versatile, storage and seating. Even sleeping if you can recline the seat.
I love my reg cab though. I need some pics to post, maybe tomorrow.

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

I don't know if it is because they are so few of them ( 88/98 Short Box 4x4 Regular Cabs) or guys and girls just luv em but around here they are expensive to buy even with 150/200,000 miles on them. I've looked at a few and was gonna buy them but they still ask 8/10,000.00 here for 96/99's and get it. As an example I've attached a link to one for sale locally. It is an 1989 has 217,000kms which is 133,000 miles.

My next one is going to be a ex cab I need more room to carry my extra cloths for plowing but it will have to be a short bed or a 3/4ton Suburban then there is plenty of room. I bought a 97 short bed 4x4 a couple years ago that was so sweet I paid $4500 for it and drove it all summer and was going to put a plow on it but I just couldn't do it it was just to nice so I sold it for $6000 w/136000 mi on it. Here are a few pix of it.

and holy greg..thats super high for an 89..

I wonder if he asks that much because he has money in the sound system?

shortbox 4x4s around here are pricey as well, but not like that

Thats a sweet truck though. Reg cab, Short bed, step side are always gonna be pricier. Kind a like an old chevelle. A 4 door is just an old car, but a 2 door is a muscle car. Everyone wants the muscle car.

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

Guys, sweet trucks.

Believe it or not, I had the chance to buy a 1996 4x4 LWB 350/700R4 for $900, but I had to pass on it. It had low compression on cylinders 3 and 5. Plus I was about $850 short. Oh well, I'll find a 4x4 eventually.

There's a nice one here in town that I'll try to snap some pics of next time I see it.

Re: Let's See Some 88-98 Std. Cab 4x4's.

$900 for a 96, if its in good shape is a good deal If you can do work yourself. A short block at Autozone is like $800.
I've got an 89 I paid $850 with 2 cracked heads, rust and rash, shot front suspension, fresh built tranny and worn out tires.

I rebulit a motor out of a '99 and replaced the heads. All new everything on the motor, water pump, altenator, belts hoses, ignition, race starter. With all that I ended up with about maybe $2500 in it to have running reliably again. About $250 for cold A/C.
The front susp. rebuild was about $600 with all good parts, Moog, and new cv axles, bearing assembly, gear box, bushings, tie rods etc. Any thing up front I could replace I did. New tires were $650. Now the truck drives easy and I don't have to chase the truck all over the road. The steering wheel had about a 1/4turn of play in it before.
I got robbed on the paint job. DON'T get Maaco. I did a color change from maroon to white and they charged me $1600. The fixed "0" rust or dents. All they did was sand it, mask it, prime it,and shoot it. They didn't pull the grill or bumpers or anything. They just masked. I got a quote from a local guy for better work at half the price but my wife made the arrangement when I was out of town as a surprise. What a good wife.
All together I got about $4000 plus paint for a mostly mechanically new 4x4 pickup I can keep for a long time. Still needs some nickle and dime stuff but all old trucks do.
