Really fun stuff just around the corner, John. Hands down, final assembly beats all the grunt work it took to reach this point. Looking forward to seeing it happen.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

So, we've been sanding and buffing and still have lots of that to do. It's not laser flat but it looks great. Taking a little break and doing some fun stuff! It's been a minute since this crank was snuggled in it's block! I have a lot more love to throw at this little mouse. It's going to be cool!

That part is buttoned. Sooner or later we'll have to get back to polishing all that paint! Needed the break.

Looking good John

That must be about 11:1? I see some port work on those heads and some beehive springs? Should be a strong running 327.

Re: My '67 Fleetside C10 renew

Thanks for the comments, guys!
Those are Icon forged units on 6" Scat rods. I had the domes milled a bit for a target 11.0:1. The machinist used the component specs instead of a four-corner mock up for the deck job and told me they'd be 0.010" in the hole, so I bought 0.030" x 4.060" laminated head gaskets for a 0.040" squish. Well, once we got it all together it comes pretty darned close to a zero deck! The heads are 461s that I had cut for 2.02x1.60 valves. I had chambers cut to unshroud the intake and used 8mm valves. Chambers came out to 65cc. All the runners are gasket ported and worked a little bit. Actual CR is looking closer to 11.2:1. I'm going to run with that and will punt if detonation is an issue. A 0.040" x 4.100" gasket will knock a few points off it. Knuckles has also been showing me an Engine Masters episode where they compared AFR heads to the Camel Humps. We're hoping to get back on the tools this week.

Look what I saved from the dump! They only did the nickel doors in Post Falls. Might be some of your handy-work? I'm going to clean it up and make a few truck bux!

Dang, John, wouldn't Vintage Air take up a lot less space under the dash?

Haha, yeah I built a few of those back in the day. That one was likely built up in Hayden. Too bad it isn't a Grandma Bear or something. It would be easier to sell and for more $$$

Ya, not many fireplaces to retrofit these days. It's a solid house heater tho!

With four legs and a flue collar, you have a large freestanding stove.
