Re: Da Big Kahuna's '71 C/10

Your truck looks great! Probably one of the cleanest ive seen in a while. Where did you find it? Ive got a bed cover just like the one you installed. Kind of a pain trying to get it all buttoned up especially when its cold out but it serves its purpose. What are your plans for it?

Thanks!

I found it in Phoenix just over a year ago. She photographs nice but she's just a driver.

I have to get the front suspension sorted out next. I'm just gonna throw some springs and spindles on it. I have a complete front end from Scott's Hot Rods which I won at the CPP show a couple of weeks ago. I'd like to put that on it with a Porterbuilt rear bag set up but that it's gonna be a much bigger project than I can take on right now. I'm hoping to finish my '67 VW project by the end of the year and then I can take the truck apart and do it right.

And YA that cover can be a pain in the butt when it's cold!
I gotta have it to keep all the eucalyptus leaves out of the bed.
They make quite a mess!

I haven't found anything close that's available in CA.

What's the story on the Monte? I've always loved those early ones

Re: Da Big Kahuna's '71 C/10

I had an alternator bearing go bad on the way back from the CPP show. I picked up a Powermaster 100 amp alternator from Summit earlier this week. I was trying to get it ready for the Del Mar show this weekend but Wednesday night was the only time I had to work on it.

After getting into it, I found out that the plug on the alternator was different than the one on my harness. I ordered the proper plug but that killed my momentum for the weekend.

As I was laying in bed on Thursday night, it occurred to me that I could hook it up as a one wire temporarily. I wanted to scoot out of work early on Friday but there was just no way to get out.

Today I finished up the alternator install with a new belt and hooked it up as a one wire so I was able to drive the truck for the first time in 2 weeks. Some time next week, I'll have the harness to hook it up right. ;-)

I didn't think of taking any pictures but I'll try to snap some tomorrow.
