After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

The factory regulator was built into the fuel pump/sender assembly. You can use them, but it requires fuel tank mods that are past a lot of peoples abilities and/or desires since the corvette filterwith the regulator built in is so easy to use. Price probably adds into the equation too as fuel pump modules are not the cheapest.

Is there anything out there that regulates while in-tank or in the sending unit/assembly that is a direct fit?

For an '87 tank? Unfortunatly, no. The newer senders take a completely different type of lock ring and are bigger. I would just use the '87 tank and sender, get a Walbro255 pump or something similar and use the Vette filter.

It's not mine, it's Classic Steel's. It looks like the stock sending unit though.

Oh damn my fault. I was wondering how he got those fitting on it. I think mine will only have the slip on type. The one you use with good ole stainless clamps. Will I have to cut them, slip on a fitting and then use a flaring tool?

The tank is a Spectra GM15C and the sending unit is a FG12K. This is the setup for the 25 gallon tank. It is 1" shallower then the 31 gal. The sending unit is unmodified, with the exception of some upgraded wiring necessary to run the bugger pump.

Boy do I need help!! This is a head scratcher for someone with my skill, or lack thereof. I finally got the 87 sending unit, tank, etc.... I hope someone can help.

So my understanding is that LSx engines use high pressure fuel systems(58psi), so what do I do with the sending unit's feed/return/evap lines? I mean it looks like it only takes the good ol' slip fitting that use the traditional hose clamps, isnt this NOT HIGH PRESSURE COMPATIBLE? wont they burst right off at the first moment the pump turns on?


All your help is very appreciated, hell if you guys lived in Tucson, I'd buy you guys a round of cold beverages.

87's were fuel injected, but it was throttle body injection which only runs at around 17-20 psi that's why they were just clamped. The barb on the end of the line will keep the hose on under pressure provided you use fuel injection hose and fuel injection clamps, I like to put two clamps on them with the screw parts opposite of each other. Many have been done this way, a couple of my cars included. If you don't feel comfortable with it you could braze on AN fittings, or if you're good with a flaring tool, you could cut the barb off the end and double flare it.You also could use nylon line with compression fittings as long as you can find the right fittings. Keep in mind you will need some kind of flexible hose, rubber, steel braided, nylon ect. so you can drop the tank if the need ever arises. If you hard line it to the frame, you won't be able to move it and trying to drop the tank will probably damage the lines going into the sender.

I have already bought about 20ft of stainless braided TEFLON line with a bunch of hose ends for that stainless line. would the FI clamps work with the stainless line?

Double Flaring seems to be a safer bet, but I dont think I have enough line coming out of the sending unit to work with, unless you believe its enought to double flare. Also, will those double flare fittings directly bolt on to the stainless hose ends?

I used some 37* steel fittings, but I had to enlarge the ID to fit the sending unit pipe, then I silver soldered them to the sending unit.
I found the fittings over at the Parker Store in the area of Ajo and Palo Verde.
He also has the female fitting,s BUT after you get the lines to the right length he will need to crimp them. Done Deal !!

I wouldn't try to clamp that kind of hose. You will need some kind of fittings to adapt the hose.

i cut the ends off my sender and used compression fittings to -6 an on the sender havent leaked yet

X2 here...Cut the bead off the end of the tube, use a Parker or Swagelock compression fitting to male AN adapter for the give OD of the steel line coming off the sending unit. The supply tube should be 3/8" od and the return should be 5/16" od.

What brand of sending unit is that? My spectra one had metric o ring fittings on it. The barbed style of this one makes me wonder if its a carbureted one...?

I got this from classic parts #23-546 "gas tank sending unit W/FI, 87-91" is what it reads on the box.
