Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project

Well improvise adapt and overcome. Since the van column was short and we hated the camaro one I had to come up with a solution. Well here it is... take two and make one. Pretty cheap fix. $30 for u - joint. Next step insert column attach rag joint then connect the two and weld away when column is in the position we want aka straight.

Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project

Well took your all's advice and bought a great used 750 holley vacuum secondary carburetor. Heard it running on the guy's 1978 chevy and was very pleased. Manual choke so will look nice on gauge cluster. Just need to next weekend tear down bottom half of engine apart make sure it's good and then new gasket set and motor mounts and slap that beast in.

Re: Father-in-law & son-in-law project

Well slowly working on the grandkids hauler... unpaired engine and tranny today. Took head off the engine. While up in the air we got some great news on the engine... it spins freely!

Mocked up the van steering column I've been modifying and yeah 3 inches too long it appears. Well better to have too much than being too short. Looks like I getta cut some more.

So next weekend I am hoping to get a gasket set, carb install kit and get the steering column all sorted. This is finally coming together. Hopefully by Halloween we will have the engine in and running.
