71 Chevy C10 -tailgate letters painted?

71 Chevy C10 Custom Deluxe, i'm trying to determine if CHEVROLET letters on tailgate were painted white (or other). truck is red. currently, entire tailgate including letters are painted red. i know stick-on decals are available, etc. but i want to know what original stock look was.

Welcome to the board! The letters would have been white originally.

Were they originally painted or stick-on decals?

Re: 71 Chevy C10 -tailgate letters painted?

Pretty sure the letters were painted. I had mine repainted silver many years ago. Now that some of that is wearing/chipping away, I still see the white underneath. If it had been stickers, I would have hoped that they would have pulled em off before painting over them!

About due for a touch up now. Think I'll go back to white.....maybe even stickers.
