Door Part needed, Drivers upper hinge

I have a 67 C10 and am looking for the sheet metal and hinge (driver side upper) to replace the rusted out sheet metal. Looks like my best choice is to cut out the hinge and repair/replace all rusted metal.

If anyone has anything that could help, please let me know.

Thanks,

GMCPauls offers replacement outer pillars, not cheap though. Here is a link, it's about a quarter of the way down the page:

Do you have a picture of the area you are talking about?

Re: Door Part needed, Drivers upper hinge

I need the sheet metal part of the door, top hinge, where the hinge bolts into the door. The door is rusted and when the door open against the hinge stop, it broke the weld repair on the door sheet metal.

See this thread for info. The hinge is fine but the door sheet metal needs to be replaced. I was hoping someone might have a beat up door with no rust in the upper hinge sheet metal.

Re: Door Part needed, Drivers upper hinge

You can make a patch panel yourself if you have some scrap sheet metal laying around. I can’t remember if there is a cage nut on the backside of the door shell or not, but you can weld some nuts onto the back of your patch panel if the cage nut is rusted too. Then weld it all in place.

Here are the steps..

Cut the patch sheet metal down to slightly larger than the repair area. Mark the bolt holes and drill holes in your patch panel. With all four hinge bolts holding your patch In place, scrib around patch panel to mark the area to cut out on your shell. Next, remove patch panel and reinstall the bolts back through the patch and secure with nuts(interior of door shell). Tack weld the nuts to the patch, and remove bolts. Finish welding the nuts and paint for rust protection. Paint might burn off when you weld the patch into the door but it’s worth a shot.

Cut the repair area that you scribed earlier, and tack in the patch. Before you weld it in for good you should do some test fitting just to make sure nothing crazy happened. You can clean it up and make it pretty from there, but it’s not a highly visible area.

If that is your door shell in the link, you probably have a lot of rust in your door. You might want to do a door skin just to get in there and make sure it’s solid. It’s the upper hinge so all that rust is going down to the lower hinge and it could be compromised too.

I was afraid of that. I don't have any scrap doors left to cut that piece from. I do have a cab I am scrapping , that is why I requested pictures.

The thing is he can't post a WTB (which he isn't) and members can't sell parts on here unless they are "subscribing" members (name in Blue). If anyone has a junk door they can cut that piece out of and send it to him for postage cost that would be great.

Re: Door Part needed, Drivers upper hinge

Thanks for the input. The link is not my door. Mine works but is showing cracks, so the area is compromised with rust. Every time I open the door to full stop you can see the material moving. Im afraid of the door gets caught in the wind that it will pull the section out of the door.

I did not want to buy a repro door just to cut that section out of it to repair the existing door.
