Cruise control?

On the early Squares was cruise control even offered (ie 1973-1980)?

I have been combing through the sales brochures trying to find a reference to a cruise control for the early squares and find nothing?

Anybody have any knowledge of such?

Does it have this kind of turn signal switch, with the cruise switch in it?

Re: Cruise control?

Cruise has been around since the 50's that I am aware of gaining popularity in the 60's.

I have had a few 73-75's that have had it.

Re: Cruise control?

My 84 Sierra didn't come with it.. My truck is bare bones. Not even a dome light, just the under dash light, manual windows, and locks. Just the way I like it.

Re: Cruise control?

I have cruise on my 79 and has the cruise lever you have pictured. Cruise control was offered on many squares. There was also aftermarket add on units as well, I have one on my 84 Chevy van as well.

Re: Cruise control?

Yeah my 75's both had it. I recently sold the unit off Sweet Pea. Funky rubber diaphragm job. Its listed on Sweet Pea's SPID as "1K30 Speed and Cruise Cont"
In this pic you can see the lever.

I recently bought a "tilt" column that has the factory cruise push button, in the turn signal (as shown above) that I will eventually incorporate into my LS swap so it will have cruise AND tilt. Since I have so many things to work on I am going to "farm" out the rebuild of the new steering column, so I can work on the LS engine swap.
