Re: Lsx376 2.9l whipple?

The whipple guy thinks it takes a 4.0L blower to make 700 whp? LOL.

Guys with a "little" Magnuson TVS2300 (2.3L/rev) making 900+ whp...

Re: Lsx376 2.9l whipple?

With the drivetrain listed, you would need to be at about 875-900 fly wheel HP to make the 700rwhp. With this motor and the 2.9L, it will be difficult to do this on pump 93. You would need about 18psi which on this motor, is spinning the 2.9L pretty good which will also create hotter IAT's. For the 376-B15 motor to make the power you are looking for with ease on 93 octane, I would suggest the W245AX (4.0L) kit we offer. The larger blower does not have to spin nearly as hard to make the boost/power therefor the IAT's will stay lower.

Thanks,
Mike Malicoat

Re: Lsx376 2.9l whipple?

Anybody running an ls with a 2.9 whipple how much room between top on SC and hood? Whipple says the 2.9 is 10.5" from valley tray to top of SC and 4.0 is 13"

It will depend on where the porterbuilt setup puts the engine in the frame rails. I have a No-Limit front end/motor mounts on a 4x4 to 2wd conversion (puts the engine about 1" higher in chassis), and my Hi-Ram is almost touching the hood, at 12.3" tall

Re: Lsx376 2.9l whipple?

I think i remember seeing about an inch between the hood and the top of the blower. I on a mild dropmember. I don't think it would clear with an extreme DM

Forgot you were running the extreme drop member. Here are some pictures the setup in my 68 and a measurement of my son's 68 with a extreme dropmember.
