Swapping to saddle secondary interior color and 77 dash in a 81.

I decided since the doors I put on old green had tan or saddle colored door panles I decided to go full send and swap out the dash and sun visors To. Got all the parts from the same pickup I got the doors from. But I ended up finding a different dash pad out of a 77 blazers in way better shape. Now all I need is some tan seat belts to complete the swap. Let me know how you like it. Some before and after pictures.

I think it will look good. Why not just use the seatbelts out of the tan parts truck? At least those will match that interior. There are numerous shades of tan throughout the years. Chances are, if you get a tan set from another year truck, they will not be the right shade of tan.

The pickup I got all the other stuff out of had lap belts. I want 3 point just like what he has but tan.

What was the year of the truck, that you got the tan items from? Like I stated earlier, the different years had different shades of tan. If we start there, then I maybe able to help you out. I restore seatbelts, so I have somewhat of a stock of belts.

Yep I've seen some of your work. Really good. The pickup I got the door panles and sun visors out of a 73. The dash was out of a 77. I understand that the 77 dash is sappost to be a different shade then the 73 but the 77 dash is almost a perfect mach to the visors. The door panels I cant tell you if they would mach or not. They are super faded as you can see in the picture. Might try painting them.

Yeah the dash and visors look like Dark Saddle. On all the lighter tan interiors, the Dark Saddle was used on the dash. So if you do the door panels with the lighter Saddle Tan, or even the Dark Saddle, then I believe the 81-87 saddle tan belts would look good. I would suggest this, I did these for someone. They were 87 belts, Saddle color, but he wanted the retractor casings done in Dark Saddle. They turned out good. I’m just not sure I would want to do that again. It took a lot more masking, to keep the dark off the lighter webbing.

Looks realy good. Think I'm going to do the dark saddle on the door panles and on the seat belts. I think having only one color of tan is the way to go here. I noticed that a lot of these belts have center seat belts. Old green does not. Just driver and passenger.

Only problem with that, there are no Dark Saddle seatbelts. 2 points, but no 3 points belts were in Dark Saddle, only light Saddle. I guess that’s what I was trying to say earlier. I kind of assumed that’s where you were leaning to, is Saddle Tan, but there is no Dark Saddle that are 3 points. Only other option, Mahogany belts. They are what some people call brown/bronze. I had this discussion with someone else not long ago. They insisted on having Dark Saddle seatbelts. You can’t make something exist, when it doesn’t. Maybe if you go with aftermarket belts, which are junk BTW.
That’s why I did those belts for the one guy, like the picture above. Plastic is not too hard to change colors on, but that’s not the case when it comes to the webbing. So here is a picture reference of what the Mahogany looks like. A lot depends on the color of your seat also. I’m not sure if you had stated that already, I may have missed that.

That a dilemma. Gess I'm going with light saddle then lol. Along with the seat. Think I'm still going to do the dark saddle door panels.

Re: Swapping to saddle secondary interior color and 77 dash in a 81.

Finally got my seat belts. There more of a brown then tan but they still look good. They are a older style so I did have to drill a 1/2 hole in the b piller to install the reactor. Also gained the center seat belt. I just tucked it behide the seat.

Here is a picture of dark saddle and sandstone velour seat covers i just had made. Would probably go good with the look you are going for.

That would look good. I'm not even shure what year my seat is from. I found it in the back of the 73 I got the doors from.

That what I figured. Did a bit of research on it and I did not know all though the covers and pleating are different for trims years and stuff like that the foam and frame are the same for 81 up. So any 81 up cover will work. I believe. Probably going to go the poor man's drought right now and get some Mexican blankets in tan and cover it for now.

This is the style of covers (doing a crew cab, so 2 seats) but now wish i would have had the top piece of the back, and the wide center strip done in Dark Saddle with just the two side sitting areas done in the Sandstone velour

(Photo grabbed from the net)

Now this is on a 73-80 seat, but this is dark saddle. The next one is a Saddle Tan, it’s a 81-87 seat.

All would look better then the blue. I like the pattern my seat has with the pleating going all the way up the back. Probably will go with that style with two tone sandstone and dark saddle slbecuse if my seat belts are more dark saddle brown. Would go good with them. Also would like to find some door panel in better shape. Not faded to a white like mine.

The door panels can be cleaned, restored & dyed.
First 2 pics are before. Next is after a good cleaning. And the last 2 are after. Anything can be done, just gotta put some time & effort in it.

These look a lot lighter in the picture than they really are due to the sun shine, but the ones in my 88 Crew Cab look to be more of a Medium saddle. Thought of dyeing them to match the Dark Saddle on the seats.

I like your woodwork, those are nice. At least those hold up better than the aluminum. My door panels, when I first bought the truck, someone had put wood on them.
Since then, the whole interior has been transformed. Now it’s Charcoal.
