Wrong oil pan ?

So I picked up a used crate motor that I believe is a Jegs / ATK motor . The oil pan had been damaged by the seller so I ordered a replacement off Ebay . The bolt holes on the new pan dont match the holes in the block ? Can anyone tell me why this is ? I thought that all early SBC s were interchangable .

Re: Wrong oil pan ?

Stupid question but did you flip it 180? Your pic is narrowed down to just the rear of the block but the front of the oil pan tapers not the rear, that I can recall by memory.

Added pic . All the other holes seem to line up except the rear two.

Re: Wrong oil pan ?

A 5.7 litre stamp is a later (1986-2002)one piece rear main motor.
Takes a wider pan.
Your new pan is for a older two piece rear main block.
