AMD cowl hood any good?
So let me tell you we’re I’m at. I have a LMC cowl hood I’ve had in storage for about 2 years that I bought new. The fit on it is terrible. I’ve been working on it to get it to fit right but I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied with it. So I think it’s going to be a expensive paint tester. I’ve got two choices now. Use a stock hood that a member on here has or try a AMD hood. I’ve read good and bad on the AMD but nothing really recent. Anybody have any experience with there hoods? The other part is if I go with a AMD hood I’ll be in Dallas this weekend for C10 nationals I can pick it up from SummitRacing to save shipping. I’m not sure what to do. I definitely don’t want to waste another $500 on scrap metal. Thanks for any help.

Re: AMD cowl hood any good?
I would find out who made the hood you have. It may well be an AMD unit . I've only used OEM hoods so I have no experience with aftermarket .

Re: AMD cowl hood any good?
Is this for a 67/68?
If so there are plenty of bad reports on those. The quality vendors won't sell them. I recommend checking with Classic Heartbeat to see if a new version from a better manufacturer is available. I traded the one that came with my Burban for a stock one because it fit so poorly. Or you could cut the center out of your current cowl hood and weld it into your stock hood. It would be about the same money as a second hood and you would have the peace of mind that it will fit.

Re: AMD cowl hood any good?
Yes it is for a 67. That’s kinda what I’m understanding is that there isn’t any “good” 67/68 repro hoods. Good idea on calling classic heartbeat. I’ll call tomorrow. I was reading a thread by GMCpaul I believe that said he wouldn’t sale them. But new stampings were coming out. I think it was from 2018. I wonder if that ever materialized? Thanks
