Been offline for a while due to "Life" issues so the poor 54 has been parked for quite a while. Been starting it up once a month but now there's an issue with the heater. Bought and installed the one shown below from Jegs and it leaks coolant all over my floor. I took face off and its leaking from a crap weld in the core. Any recommendations on a small cab heater that doesn't leak.

Hard to Beat Vintage air for product quality and support.

You can shop the part number and sometimes find a decent deal.

One other option might be finding an oem replacement core that will fit in the box you have. That is if it can't be repaired. Being new and not rotted a radiator shop might be willing to repair it.

They aren't as long but a 71/90 Chevy full size car heater core might fit in that box if you made a baffle for the end and some solid mounts for the core. That you could get at a local parts house.

Or a "can you find me a good heater core that fits this box?" at a decent radiator shop. Some of them don't repair small stuff but have a lot of catalogs to pick from when looking for heater cores.

I like the Vintage but it looks like the motor might stick up too far and interfere with glovebox.

I used one, just made my glovebox smaller. Just alter the cardboard.

You have a heater that's installed and fits - why start all over? Just call Jegs and request a replacement. That leak is probably a fluke, and Jegs customer service is impeccable. Even if it's past warrantee they'll probably make you happy. Just swap it for a new one.

I purchased the 506101 Gen II Heater with Defrost and Servo Door Control from Vintage air.

I'm in the process of installing it now. Everything is in the box and it's a pretty small compact unit. Ordered it from Jegs.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist.
