Question '88 3/4ton automatic transmission....

How do I go about finding out what transmission is in the truck?

1. look at the transmission and see what the pan looks like.

2. Check the glove box and see if the SPID sticker is still there for the codes.

My guess is you probably have a Turbo400 (no OD)

What does the column say? D, 2,1? Or OD, D, 2,1. First is a TH400 second is a 700r4.

I feel like a dope for making the inquiry, but getting back into messing with trucks again, sometimes I find myself at a loss......even with what would seem to be "simple stuff". So again, thanks!
